    Pepsi Italia, Nice Bubbles TV Spot

    The Pepsi ‘Refresh Your World’ campaign runs internationally, and launched in Italy in 2011. Pepsi Italia wanted a TV ad to tell creative young Italians about the campaign, and ran a competition with MOFILM and the Rome Film Festival 2010, to find the ideal spot.

    Our entry was Nice Bubbles, the story of a young character whose imagination transforms dreary bits of his hometown through bright, Pepsi-coloured thought bubbles. After shooting a number of locations with our Canon 5D MII, we gave the scenes the required ‘refreshment’ using animated 2D illustrations, influenced by vintage poster artists like Norman Wilkinson and Frank Newbould. The spot concludes by asking the audience for ideas on how they could refresh their own worlds.

    It did the trick: Pepsi Italia said the piece was right on brief, and perfectly crafted to capture the imagination of the target audience. We won first place, collected our award at the Rome Film Festival, and the ad went live on Italian TV, to launch the campaign across the country.
